Anyone familiar with the Dore illustrated L'INFERNO will be fascinated by this early Italian epic. Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations While the special effects may at times seem dated to the modern viewer, they are equally innovative and create an atmosphere quite unique in early experimental films: While elaborate costumes and sets are regularly employed, so are numerous collage and filmic effects which are actually quite phenomenal considering what kind of technology was available before 1911. I don't know how this film was originally presented, but the smoggy red filtering leaves the film so blurry that you can barely tell what is going on!

It's not going to be interesting for most people but if your interested in early cinema (it was Italy's first feature film) or The Divine Comedy then you will find it interesting. Some wonderful special effects, although on occasion (particularly in the opening scenes) the work seems a bit too stagey. Whilst this option is widely promoted, Pay later in 3 is subject to your financial circumstances. My complain is that Tangerine Dream's music is too modern for this type of film, although great. Otherwise, this classic is in good condition and has been nicely restored, given an unusual but suitable soundtrack, and there are some good notes accompanying the DVD.

The actual movie itself is fine, its from 1911, silent and in black and white.
