Far more than a kidnap survival story. StageAgent Distance Learning Hub Teaching or learning remotely?
“This is absolutely THE best teacher resource I have ever purchased. She survived the brutal attentions of a man with obvious mental illness (paranoia at the very least) and a strong misogynistic bias.
Interesting book, but I think it would have been better written by someone else. © 2020 Guardian News & Media Limited or its affiliated companies.
She sees Jack leaning out of the window and leaves Kip behind to go to him. Sickening.A very honest, and well-written memoir about being kidnapped at age 10.This is a book one can't really rate...because no humane person can like it...and you can't say it's bad...it's, to be simply put, dreadful...This is a book one can't really rate...because no humane person can like it...and you can't say it's bad...it's, to be simply put, dreadful...I already knew that the mind goes to great length in order to survive. She is a true martyr who is unapologetic and honest about her feelings, bravely sharing her most painful, private memories in her own way, even though she knows that, in doing so, the media's thirst for the sensational is unslaked.
Her memoir shatters all my preconceived notion of a victim, and imprints upon me the faulty nature of humankind -- all too often, we deny the murky grey areas in this world and opt for the simplistic binary of black and white, evil and good. I'm only an amateur psychologist, but even I can see the ways that she is twisted by growing up in captivity. Young girls were being molested and killed. Even though she knows she may never see Jack again, Connie feels grateful for everything in her life. In this book she writes how she adapted and how she managed to survive 8 harrowing years until her escape, during which she suffered extreme psychological, physical, and (alluded) sexual abuse. This is her story. Ms. KampusThis book is so powerful that it makes me utterly speechless, for there are absolutely no words that can possibly articulate the tumultuous emotions which this memoir evokes.
Welcome back.
This was a detailed and grueling account of a real abduction. Well written considering this girl has nothing else than basic education, provided mostly by herself and her incredible desire of superation, inside and outside her imprisonment. It was all over the world when this 18 years old girl suddenly appeared out of thin air, after having been disappeared for 8 years - 3096 days to be precise.Everyone knows the story of Natascha Kampusch. At the age of ten she was abducted.
Connie tells Jean that she’s pregnant, and that she’ll never see the father again. Přiklopil gave her books, so she educated herself. Everyone knows the story of Natascha Kampusch. Of course I understand her desire to keep certain parts of the ordeal private, but because of that, you always had a feeling while reading the book that there were specific facts withheld, that there was more to the story than she was willing to share. It is hard to rate a book like this with any number of stars. She writes well (with some assistance) and really attempts to put us in her place as a young girl trying to survive in a place most people could never possibly imagine. When she was ten years old, Kampusch was kidnapped by a man who wished to control her and turn her into his "perfect woman." Of course I understand her desire to keep certain parts of the ordeal private, but because of that, you always had a feeling while reading the book that there were specific facts withheld, that there was more to the story than she was willing to share.I think the book would have been a lot better had Kampusch gone all out with the details of her 9 year imprisonment.
I remember the television footage when Natascha Kampusch first escaped from captivity back in 2008. Based on real life events. I read this several months ago. How do you begin to rate or review something so personal?
I felt that she told the story of her abduction, her escape, and her re-entry into society, with great care, and skill.

I was happy to finally get an English copy of Natascha Kampusch's memoir in Berlin, as it's something I've been looking forward to for quite awhile. This memoir is not simply a memoir of a gloomy confined past, but rather a resolution of a present and future free of shackles. I totally support her choice to not reveal everything that took place during those years. "3,096 Days" is ultimately a story about the triumph of the human spirit. Natascha Maria Kampusch (born 17 February 1988) is an Austrian woman who was abducted at the age of 10 on 2 March 1998 and held in a secret cellar by her kidnapper Wolfgang Přiklopil for more than eight years, until she escaped on 23 August 2006.
This young woman has had an extremely rare and singularly extreme experience, and has several very important things to say between the lines.I have to say I agree with most of Chic Flick's comments. As the family eats breakfast the next morning, Jean decides that Connie will drop out of school to work, and she herself will take a job as a housekeeper.
She was kept prisoner, mostly in a “dungeon” underground in her kidnapper’s house for 8 years before she escaped. When she emerged eight years later, her childhood had gone.
